Building foundations. Object placement is a problem

Loving the game so far but when building a structure I have issues with overlapping pieces that shouldn’t be over lapping. Objects are very difficult to place and sometimes they orient themselves completely incorrectly when trying to place them. Placing stairs and slanted roofing is particularly difficult. I opted for a flat roof because trying to make a slanted roof was nearly inpossible.
